The two main roles of the Treasurer's Office are the custodian of all county funds and the collector of taxes. Additionally, the Treasurer fulfills many other duties.

Use the Wells County GIS to access your property tax information by searching for your name, address or tax ID number.

Tax Payment Methods

Pay by Mail:

We accept personal checks, certified checks, and money orders.  Make checks payable to the Treasurer, Wells County.  Mail must be postmarked by the due date.  Returned, delayed, lost, or mis-directed mail may become delinquent.  Please ensure the mailing address is complete and accurate, obtain proof of mailing date, and use the correct amount of postage.

Pay at the Treasurer’s Office:

Office hours are 8 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  The office is closed to observe legal holidays.  We accept checks, cash, cashier’s check, and money orders.  Make checks payable to the Treasurer, Wells County.  Credit card payments are accepted in the office but can be made on-line or by phone.  (See instructions below.)

Pay at a Bank:

You will need to provide your Tax Statement along with your payment.  Bank locations outside of the County do not accept payment for County taxes.  Banks are not allowed to accept payments after the official deadline.

Pay Online:

To make a credit or debit card payment online, Click Here.  You will need the parcel number and the dollar amount. There is a 2% plus $2.00 portal administration fee for this service. Please print or record your transation number for future reference.

To make an electronic check payment online, Click Here. You will need your parcel, routing, account, and check numbers. A $2.00 flat rate will be added.
